Incenso notturno
This time, Lorenzo steps out of his comfort-zone, that of fruity pleasers, expressing joy and smiles.
He steps into darker territory and does so with his usual approach, tiptoeing around, experimenting with something new, but no less appealing.
Of course, Lorenzo's sunny side could not be missed, and so, Incenso Notturno, in the opening, is not so nocturnal.
Citrus fruits, combined with elemi resin, sprinkled with a hint of black pepper, bring out an incensed but initially bright character.
The evolution is slow, and from light comes night, through woody, earthy and, of course, incensed accords.
It becomes nocturnal and mysterious, with an earthy, peppery character, like a nighttime, winter walk in a cold medieval town.
The cold, humid interior of a now-empty church, where the smell of wood from the benches and confessionals blends with that of burning candles and incense. The walls, cold and damp, release their characteristic odor.
The warm balsamic part is perfectly balanced by the wet, earthy patchouli part and the result is astonishing and damn gothic.
